The cinema theater ‘Saule’ first was opened to the inhabitants of Šiauliai in 1966. It was the biggest cinema theater in Lithuania. In 1986 the front of the building was decorated with Professor K. Morkūnas stained glass ‘Saule Battle’ to commemorate the 750th year anniversary of Šiauliai city. After the long period of decline ‘Saule’ surprised the citizens with DOLBY DIGITAL sound system and a hall with 860 seats in 1998. ‘Titanic’ was shown for the first time. The latest DOLBY DIGITAL SURROUND EX system was implanted in 1999. ‘Star Wars. Episode 1’ was shown for the first time. There are more new films than can be shown at the cinema theater ‘Saule’ so the cinema theater ‘Laikas’ was reconstructed to meet the needs of the audience. DOLBY DIGITAL SURROUND EX sound system was implanted in it. There is a hall with 114 comfortable, cushioned seats. A cosy 60 seats’ café was found nearby. Šiauliai inhabitants make 170,000 visits to the cinema theaters.
