Šiauliai Philharmonic was found in August 15, 1982. It is a concert organization. Its main task is to present the highest level of music art culture and traditions to Šiauliai inhabitants while playing classic and modern music works of Lithuanian and foreign composers. To achieve these aims Šiauliai Philharmonic collaborates with Šiauliai Chamber Orchestra makes contracts with the most famous Lithuanian and foreign performers to implement particular programs. Important objects of Šiauliai Philharmonic are to reveal and raise young talents, to present the most eminent Lithuanian art in the country and abroad, to introduce music art, to arrange festivals and art actions to the people of Šiauliai region.
International Grand-piano duet festival has been arranged every two years since 1995. The most famous grand-piano duets from Lithuania and abroad take place in it. The festival is arranged in the first week of April when several concerts are organized in Šiauliai city, one concert is arranged in any town in Lithuania and one more is given abroad. The festival Šiauliai Nights is arranged during Šiauliai Days festival and has become popular. Famous country and abroad performers and Šiauliai Drama Theater actors are invited into night concerts. Children like a cycle of concerts Classic Music for Children which is arranged once a month.
Šiauliai Philharmonic changed its status in July 7, 2003. Šiauliai branch of the National Philharmonic turned into a separate budget institution.
There is no an art collective under Šiauliai Philharmonic. It arranges cultural programs using a contract principle, signs contracts for concrete programs with various performers: Šiauliai Chamber Orchestra, R. Lukošius and R. Jurkonis grand-piano duet, the performers of Lithuanian National Philharmonic, musicians from abroad concert organizations. There are 274 seats in Šiauliai Philharmonic hall. There is a grand-piano YAMAHA, grand-piano August Forster. Some chamber concerts are arranged at Ch. Frenkelis Palace. That is why Šiauliai Philharmonic concert piano was placed into the Red hall.
