HISTORY
The Boys Choir of Šiauliai was established in 1965 and it has been under direction of Remigijus Adomaitis since 1990. Due to artistic, pedagogical and organizational abilities of the energetic Director, the creative biography of the choir has been enriched with important and significant achievements. The number of choir members has been growing constantly. The choir became known as Dagilėlis Boys' and Youth's Choir not only to the residents of Šiauliai. The contribution of Dagilėlis to the cultural life of Šiauliai and Lithuania, cherished traditions of choir singing and representations of the Lithuanian choir singing art abroad have been appreciated by numerous letters of gratitude, diplomas and prizes.
Remigijus Adomaitis, a conductor and artistic director of the choir, graduated from the Music Academy of Lithuania in 1990. Since then he has been a director of Dagilėlis Boys' and Youth's Choir of Šiauliai and since 1999 has become a headmaster of Šiauliai Dagilėlis Singing School. He was a conductor at the Song Festival of Boys' an Youth's Choirs in Tartu (1996), at the Song Festival of the Lithuanians of the World (2003), at Mes Lietuvos vaikai" Lithuanian Competition of Children's and Youth's Choirs (2001, 2004), at the Festival of Lithuanian Boys' Choirs (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), at Mes- laisvės vaikai" Song Festival of Lithuanian Schoolchildren (2005).
For a number of years Remigijus Adomaitis together with Dagilėlis Boys' and Youth's Concert Choir has participated in many international contests and festivals in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Estonia, and Czech Republic. Dagilėlis won the 1st prize in Giessen (1997, Germany), the 1st prize in Arezzo (1999, Italy), the 1st prize in Fivizzano (2000, Italy), the 1st prize in Prague (2002, Czech Republic), the 4th prize in Cantonigros (2003, Spain), the 1st prize in Rome (2004, Italy), the 1st prize, golden medal, the winner of Grand Prix at XXXIV International Festival of Songs and contest "Mundi Cantat" in Olomouc (2006, Czech Republic).
About school "DAGILĖLIS"
In 1990, thanks to the efforts of Remigijus Adomaitis, conductor and artistic director of Boys choir Dagilėlis", the Šiauliai Singing School Dagilėlis" was established. Thus, the boys were afforded an opportunity to acquire versatile musical education.
The school specializes in choral singing. In addition, boys and youth (from 5 to 18 years old) play the instrument they choose (piano, accordion, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar), are given the lessons of conducting, composition-improvisation and music history.
