Šiauliai Teacher House was found in 1963. It became a budget organization with the rights of a legal entity in 1992. Teacher House functions as a chamber-club culture center and culture center Laiptai Gallery. Writers, musicians, actors are frequent guests there. Opening of various exhibitions, chamber music evenings are exceptional popular. Ethnographical events initiated by folk ensemble Salduve enrich cultural life of Teacher House. Their program includes songs, dances, and music which have been written down on ethnographic expeditions. Classic art is closer to culture center Laiptai Gallery concept. While arranging an exhibition attention is paid to the works of mid generation artists, to abstract, expressive art tendency. Works of emigrants are presented purposefully.
The publication Laiptams 10 was produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Teacher House culture center Laiptai Gallery. The tradition of culture exchange program has been continued. Presentations were arranged at Vilnius Akademija gallery (2001), at Artist House (2001), at Klaipėda Picture Gallery (2001).Teacher House culture center Laiptai Gallery presented Miriam Meras (Paris) lithograph exhibition at Panevėžys art Gallery in October 2, 2002.
The best project in 2003 Hymn to the Chair was noticed by Lithuanian artists, art lovers, and media. The exhibition Hymn to the Chair was exposed at culture center Laiptai Gallery and Vilnius Dailės gallery. The corporation with Šiauliai Venta furniture factory brought success to the project. Venta gave a chair to the artists and they turned it into an interesting, sometimes shocking art object. A solid catalogue and a set of cards were published.
My Beloved Thing is Waiting for Christmas was the project which reflected the joy of waiting in 300 works of children. The project was presented on Christmas Day. A catalogue was published.
The presentation of Republic exhibition www.madona.st began the year 2004. 46 authors from Kaunas, Klaipėda, Vilnius, and Šiauliai participated in it. The meeting with Kretinga monks brothers Carlo Bertagnin and Paulius Vaineikis was organized.
The festival Winter Ways of Literature first was organized by culture center Laiptai Gallery. Meetings with writers, literature reading evenings, book presentations were arranged during the festival.
